The hardest thing was learning to write. I was 13, and the only writing I had done was for Social Studies. It consisted of copying passages right out of the encyclopedia.
I think the reason working-class people don't write books is because they are encouraged to believe that only certain people are permitted to write books.
If you have what you want to say inside, and if you are crying for something that is true inside, it doesn't matter. The camera always sees it.
