It's... a hard thing for a director, to think you came up with a shot, something from your mind, and someone died while doing it. It's the worst thing you'll ever have to live with. It was very hard for me to get back on the horse again.
My athleticism was really the core to social acceptance, because in those days the overwhelming number of students came from more of a public school background than I did.
Being able to improvise is the basis for creating all characters and situations, for everything to do with performing, really. And it's good therapy as well.
