I love a lot of the New York bands, but Patti Smith stands out. I just read 'Just Kids' and it's an inspirational, well-written account of an emerging New York artist in the late seventies.
The other girls were so comfortable with their bodies and it eventually rubbed off on me.
If you're going to make a musical, don't cartoon it from the play. Make it better than the play. Have a reason for making it sing.
