Pollock said several times that he couldn't separate himself from his art. Not knowing much about modern art when I began to read about him, I was much more his persona - his struggles as a human being - that was interesting to me.
I grew up in the West, grew up on the land, was educated as a geologist. And I came here with a vision of what it is we ought to be doing.
For me, nothing has ever taken precedence over being a mother and having a family and a home.
