I think generally I'm kind of interested in subjective experience, what goes on inside someone's head, that being all they really know of the world.
As I was coming up on the stage, there was one source that could make or break you, the New York Times. Inevitably there would be one actor singled out for a better review, or worse, than somebody else. The effect of that was cancerous, divisive.
I just wanted to make sure that what I write is what appears on screen, to not have some idiot change it on its way to the screen.
