Had it not been for slavery, the death penalty would have likely been abolished in America. Slavery became a haven for the death penalty.
No matter how vital experience might be while you lived it, no sooner was it ended and dead than it became as lifeless as the piles of dry dust in a school history book.
I think any parent that makes their kid sit at a piano against their will and practice, they're going to have a kid that's not going to want to play the piano.
